Medieval Herbal Healer, The Old Wise Woman

Having a battle and have no one to tend your sick and dying?
Got Lepers in your camp and no one to treat them?
Having a burning and no witch to torch?
Giving birth and in need of a trusty midwife?

If you've got it, I have Leeches for it!

I am a 13th century Herbal Healer and I am available to give talks on the healing powers of herbs and spices of the period. I can inform, enlighten, enthral and make you think! I have a varied 'table top' display and am able to talk about everything on it and I will appear in full medieval costume.

Learn about the application of Leeches and the bleeding of a patient. Learn how to treat sore throats, cuts, grazes, bruises and burns. See the ingredients you put in your stew in a whole new light and think again about the humble herb in your kitchen cupboard.

Herbs have always been much more than just 'sage and onion' stuffing. They have been around for thousands of years and their medicinal properties have been passed down from generation to generation.

Nutmeg is a muscle relaxant and a pinch added to a cup of hot milk just before bedtime will help you sleep, BUT, increase the dose and it will act more like a laxative and you'll be spending the night on the toilet instead of asleep in bed.

So if you're having a fund raiser and need something a little different to help pull in the crowds, or having a Living History camp in your historical house or castle, then please call on me to instruct the public in the healing properties of herbs.
I am available most weekends and through the week. My rates are very reasonable. Remember that due to the nature of my display it is also suitable for those with a sight impairment.

Contact me to discuss your requirements.
